Lending Consultant

Being a lender at NZCU Baywide has huge rewards, we get to help everyday New Zealanders into their own homes, buy their dream car, improve their education, go on the trip of a lifetime, or simply get out from under a pile of debt – all things that they may never have been able to afford without our help.

To become a lender at NZCU Baywide, you don’t necessarily require a background in banking or finance, as NZCU Baywide provides you with all the tools, training and development opportunities you need to be able to grow into the role. The most helpful skill set you could have would be a strong understanding or background in customer service. Understanding our customers, identifying their needs and having an open mind are a huge part of the role, as each customer you deal with will have a completely different story  no application is ever the same. To help you achieve the best outcome possible for your customers, the support team of fellow lenders and management personnel across the NZCU Baywide network are open and willing to share with you their own experiences and expertise, no matter how outside the box an application may seem.
If you think that a lending role in a financial institution would be a paper-pushing, processing role in a company of suits, then you may be right  for other organisations, but certainly not at NZCU Baywide. Contact Centre Consultant

As the first point of contact for many of NZCU Baywide’s members and prospective members, the Contact Centre are proficient in all aspects of the operation of NZCU Baywide, from opening customer accounts through to home loans.

We are a very close-knit and family orientated team who know how to have fun, so if you have a great sense of humour along with a drive to provide top-notch customer service to both members and other staff, you will fit right in. The majority of our day to day work is either phone or email based, so a bright and bubbly phone manner is paramount.

We receive calls and emails from all walks of life and the beauty of our job is that each person requires different products or services which means we need to keep abreast of changes to policies and legislation.

We are very driven to deliver first-class service to assist our members and prospective members to achieve their financial goals. Our assistance doesn’t simply stop at members, as we are required to assist all our staff with projects and reports when required. This means we have very close relationships with all staff between the 16 branches, adding to the family feel of NZCU Baywide.

Customer Services Officer

I have been employed with NZCU Baywide for 11 years and came from a background of customer service and cash handling.

Every day here can be quite different as every customer can have a different request or problem to solve. Requests can be very challenging but extremely rewarding which is where I have found it helpful to have a customer service background, but also if I am unable to help there is always a colleague I can go to for advice.

I love the diversity around my job with the opportunities to visit other sectors of the NZCU Baywide business, giving us the opportunity to up skill or set goals to move into that area.

Developing leadership

NZCU Baywide offer their staff exceptional development opportunities across all aspects of their roles. We are committed to ensuring staff are not only equipped to be expert in the technical capabilities required to succeed, but we aim to develop the whole person. For our leaders, we provide a professional Leadership Development Programme that enhances their personal effectiveness and their ability to lead their teams confidently. The programme runs over 18 months and includes individual coaching as well as group workshops and self-directed workplace activity. It is run by Ola Roberts, Executive Coach and Facilitator who has had over 20 years experience working with individuals and teams for greater success.
