An update on your AccessCard
From 1 April 2019, NZCU Baywide AccessCards will become a domestic only card and will no longer work for EFTPOS or ATMs outside of New Zealand.
Why the change?
Mastercard has made compulsory the implementation of EMV chips on all newly-issued Mastercard branded cards from 1 April 2019. The NZCU Baywide AccessCard is a Maestro branded card and is impacted by this mandate. As a consequence of Mastercard making this change all card issuers (like NZCU Baywide) need to advise their customers.
AccessDebit cards will work - and your first one is FREE!*
As our AccessDebit cards already have the EMV chip they can be used overseas and online, as normal. You can order your first card FREE by calling 0800 229 943 or apply online here.
You will need to be in New Zealand and visit a branch to PIN and activate your card. We realise this may not be possible but if you are planning to be in New Zealand in the near future we could arrange this for you.
Please feel free to call us on 0800 229 943 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
