Your New Board Chair

Farewell to Iain Taylor

After 28 years, 12 of those as Chair, Iain Taylor chose not to seek re-election at this year's AGM and has therefore stepped down as both Chair and Director of the Credit Union Baywide Board.

Iain’s contribution has been significant and he has played a pivotal role in our success. A Director since 1994 and the Board Chair since 2008, Iain has been an immense help over the years as we've navigated the landscape of being a Credit Union in New Zealand. This has often been very challenging but Iain has at all times kept the focus on helping our members to achieve a better tomorrow.

Iain will be greatly missed by fellow Directors, staff and members and I’m sure he will be keen to see how your credit union continues to evolve. Please join me in thanking Iain for his incredible service to our organisation, our team and most importantly to our members.

Your new Chair, Louise Edwards

I am extremely pleased to announce that Louise Edwards has been chosen by the Board to replace Iain as Chair. Louise has been a Director with NZCU South since 2016, joining the merged CUB board in 2019. She is a Member of the Board Audit and Risk Committee and also a Director of Co-op Money NZ.

She currently holds several board appointments including as a director on the Boards of National Provident Fund, Superannuation Investments Ltd and MFL Mutual Funds Ltd. Her previous roles include Chief Executive of Rata Foundation, Chief Executive of Perpetual Trust and Chief Operating Officer of Assure NZ (a subsidiary of AXA).

Louise also maintains strong community sector links - including her work with Marlborough Kaikoura Trail Trust, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, University of Canterbury Foundation, Good Shepherd NZ, Alzheimer's Society and Victim Support.

Most importantly, Louise is committed to the credit union ethos of ‘people helping people’. We are very privileged to have Louise step into this key role and I hope you will all join me in congratulating her on her appointment as Chair of Credit Union Baywide.

Kind regards
